Sports Pavilion, Laisteridge Lane
VWG Mechanical were contracted to replace the mechanical services within the Sports Pavilion changing rooms on Laisteridge Lane, increasing the number of facilities available.
This included the installation of two Ideal Evomax 120kW gas fired boilers to provide heating and hot water provision. We also installed a new LPHW constant and variable temperature heating circuit to serve a new air handling unit, Evoplate plate heat exchanger and new radiators.
A new cold water storage tank and booster set were installed to serve the new cold water outlets.
A new mechanical supply and extract ventilation system has been installed to serve the changing room and toilet facilities with heat recovery via a thermal wheel.
VWG Mechanical also furbished the male, female and disabled toilets and showers within the changing rooms, installing new ideal standard sanitary ware and taps.
Working with BG Energy Solutions, a new automatic control system was installed to suit the new mechanical plant layout and connected with the existing University of Bradford system.
Allied Health Professions and Sport
VWG Mechanical designed and installed a new heating and comfort cooling system within the teaching space of the Allied Health Professions and Sport building as well as new mechanical ventilation.
The new DX system included a ceiling mounted cassettes and an external condenser, controlled via a wall mounted tempearture controller. This provided time and temperature control to the space to maintain the temperature within a controlled band during the winter and summer months. This system provides both the heating and comfort cooling, enabling the control of the internal temperature throughout the year at minimal running costs.
The mechanical ventilation system installed also offers the opportunity to reduce the ventilation rate depending on occupancy rates as and when required therefore control the energy consumption of the supply and extract units.
Modifications to domestic water supplies were also carried out.
Digital Health Exchange zone
VWG Mechanical were contracted to replace all plumbing and sanitary ware throughout the 6 storey listed building at the Digital Health Exchange Zone as part of refurbishment works. This included the modification of domestic services to suit the new layout of toilets, installation of isolation valves and THM3 valves to each WHB.
As part of these works, we also installed a new dedicated R410A air conditioning system to two server rooms to provide 5kW of cooling to each space.
All works carried out at the University are done so in line with the University of Bradford water hygiene management practices, with full chlorination and legionella sampling.
